Our Animal Care team consists of four animal carers who collectively have extensive experience in rehoming and animal welfare. Every member of the team is capable of fulfilling their role whether in the cattery or at the kennels, assisting in our veterinary clinics, or lending support to our animal fosterers.
On a daily basis the animal carers are responsible for ensuring that the cats in our care at the Paws Centre are fed, assessed under agreement from a vet and kept in clean accommodation. They dispense medication if required and carry out routine vaccinations, parasite treatment and microchip newly admitted animals.
Equally important is their role in showing the cats to the public and ultimately carrying out an adoption. At the kennels they also assist in assessing the health and temperament of the dogs with a view to successful rehoming, and carry out training and behavioral work where rehabilitation is required.
At all times, the team works in close liaison with our vets in matters affecting the health of the animals in our care, and those attending the clinic. The animal carers are responsible for co-ordinating all clinical procedures and for the controlled and authorised dispensing of drugs where necessary. Finally they ensure that animal registers, records and statistics are properly kept and maintained.
The team is compassionate and humane in all dealings with the animals and is an innovative resource that can be placed where it is most required, efficiently helping animal welfare within our branch. |
