Mutt Strutt Review
The RSPCA Norwich and Mid-Norfolk Branch launched its sponsored dog walk on Sunday 8th June at Earlham Park, Norwich. The ‘Mutt Strutt’ as it is known will be an annual event for the Branch and will help raise funds to serve animals in the local community. Trustee and organiser Lyn Hazleton said: “The event was a huge success and my thanks go to all the Branch staff and volunteers who were there to help and support it, to the members of the public who took part or gave donations and to The Red Cross who were there for first aid provision. Everyone enjoyed themselves, particularly the dogs and this included some of our own RSPCA dogs that were brought out from our kennels and took part in the walk! I know the event will have raised significant funds which will all go towards helping animals in our local area”
Dogs of all shapes and sizes, pedigree and crossbreed alike, gathered to take their owners on the walk to help canines less fortunate than themselves. Lots of fun was had by all, especially when following the route down by the river, which after Saturday’s rain had flooded the banks in places! There were many happy wet dogs for a while! The 3-mile route took walkers into the UEA grounds around the lake and through the woods and there was also a 1.5-mile route within the Park for the less energetic. Many people paid compliment to the routes and how well they were marked out.
On finishing the walk, owners and their dogs were given a goodie bag as a small token of appreciation in supporting the Branch on it’s first organised Mutt Strutt. They also had the opportunity to talk to the staff and the Inspectorate about the services the Branch offers and to purchase goods or to buy raffle tickets.
The branch is funded entirely by contributions and receives no government funding so the support of everyone who turned up to raise sponsorship by walking or who gave a donation is greatly appreciated. For more information on the Branch please call on 01603 766001.

This is JD, who is one of the dogs we brought to the 'Mutt Strutt' from our kennels having a rest.

There was time for play as well as walking. Our canine friend is enjoying that ball.

A bit of sun bathing was in order wih all the sunshine that we were blessed with.
