Gemma Helsdon

Gemma first came across the Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk Branch when she and her husband adopted their two fur babies, Jim and Pam, in 2015. A Giant African Land Snail, Sally, shortly followed and she completed their family. Pam, in particular, came as a timid little thing and through sheer determination and patience, she’s now always underfoot and begs for strokes every five minutes. Jim loves a ride on your shoulders and will sit on his hind legs to let them know he’s ready for a cuddle.

“I’ve always had a passion for animal welfare and found myself in 2018 wanting to use my day-job skills (I work in the legal sector) for something other than “work”. I’ve been a trustee since October 2018 and haven’t looked back. Even in my short tenure thus far, the branch has gone through some very exciting changes, meaning we can help more and more animals in need.

I have a special interest in the legal aspects of charity governance and fundraising.”
